Tooth cleaning, or what is technically known as "Scaling" is a procedure
which should be done regularly (one every year at least) of in patients who
tend to collect a lot of debris in the oral cavity it should be done once
every six months. Scaling is the safest dental procedure and should be regularly
done by every individual.
Scaling is a procedure which is considered to be completely safe and does
not cause any issues at all. There are two very common fallacies which are
associated with scaling. One is that teeth tend to become loose due to
the scaling procedure. This is not right and in fact scaling is a must
when there is so much collection in the mouth. If fact, the tartar that
collects in the mouth converts to what is known as "calculus" due a process
of minerilzation. It is very mandatory to remove all the calculus from
the mouth. The second fallacy is that after scaling, the teeth tend to
become sensitive. This might happen, but it is transient and it is very
temporary and reverses itself completely.
